Help Shape the Future of Robotics & Earn Income

We are looking for paid participants to record videos of everyday activities while wearing a head-mounted camera. Your recordings will help robotics systems learn to perceive, understand, and interact with real-world environments.

You’ll record yourself doing tasks you already do in daily life, such as:

  • Folding laundry
  • Preparing or cooking food
  • Cleaning, tidying, or organizing items
  • Rearranging or sorting objects

Participants may or may not be assigned specific tasks, depending on project needs.

If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable performing everyday tasks, and want to earn additional income while contributing to cutting-edge robotics research, we’d love to work with you!

What to Expect

  • Weekly footage goal: Capture at least 10 hours of clear, intentional arm, hand, and finger movements interacting with objects (e.g., folding clothes, using a screwdriver). Avoid low-value activities such as typing, using your phone, or sitting idle.
  • Uploads & quality checks: Upload videos to Google Drive on time, perform basic quality checks, and track your daily filming progress.
  • Compensation: Paid based on total usable footage
  • Unusable footage includes: Dark videos, footage showing only fingers (not full hands and arms), idle activities (watching TV, using phone, driving), or videos capturing personal information.
  • Project duration: Month-to-month, giving you flexibility.
  • Film as much high-quality, task-specific footage as you want—earn extra income while completing everyday tasks!

Simple Assessment

As part of the application process, candidates are asked to complete a short video task:

Record a 2-minute video of a simple task (e.g., folding clothes, cleaning, or organizing) using your phone’s wide camera (0.5x) at 1080p / 30 FPS. Do not show your face and no voice is required. Please make sure there is good lighting and keep your hands visible. You will be asked to provide the Google Drive link in the screening question—make sure it is set to “Anyone with the link can view.”

This assessment helps us confirm filming quality, attention to instructions, and ability to upload videos correctly.

Day in the Life

  • Wear your phone via a head strap.
  • Film tasks following best practices.
  • Ensure successful recordings before uploading to Drive.
  • Get paid!

Example tasks

  • Picking up, placing, and organizing objects
  • Sorting items by size, color, or category
  • Using simple tools (screwdriver, cloth, utensils)
  • Cleaning or wiping surfaces
  • Assembling/disassembling simple objects
  • Reaching and placing objects at varying distances

Compliance & Participation Requirements

To ensure project success, participants are expected to:

  • Meet the required filming hours.
  • Follow all submission guidelines.

We encourage open communication if you encounter challenges, so we can provide support. Repeated failure to meet requirements without a valid and communicated reason may result in termination of participation and contract.

Who You Are

  • Own a smartphone with a wide camera (0.5x zoom) capable of 1080p/30 FPS
  • Have access to a computer or laptop and a stable internet connection to upload videos to Google Drive
  • Able to follow detailed instructions carefully
  • Comfortable performing light physical tasks (standing, reaching, grasping objects)
  • Able to move naturally, slowly, and deliberately during recordings
  • Knowledgeable in uploading, organizing, and managing video files on Google Drive

Compensation

  • $2 USD/hour for the first 10 hours (initial period)
  • $3 USD/hour for all subsequent approved footage that meets quality standards

Bonuses

  • $10 USD headgear reimbursement upon completion of the first 10 hours (regardless of approval)
  • $10 USD one-time bonus upon completion of the next 10 hours of approved footage
  • $20 USD one-time bonus upon reaching 50 hours of approved footage within the first month

Payment Terms

  • Compensation is based solely on approved and qualified footage
  • Payments are processed via Deel on a monthly basis and released at the end of each month
  • Footage must be submitted and approved within the applicable payout cycle to be included in that month’s payment
  • Participants whose start date falls on or after the second week of the month will receive their first payment in the subsequent month’s payout cycle

Who Can Apply

We value participants from all backgrounds. All qualified candidates will be considered regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status.

Even if you’re unsure whether you meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply!
