Purpose of the Job:

The role is responsible to undertake HVAC deliverables (drawings, requisitions, reports, investigations, and trials) for the assigned project/tasks. Ensures that the HVAC deliverables meet the vessel specification, flag requirement (e.g IMO High Speed Craft Code/other), and the Classification Society requirements, and be fit for its intended purpose.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Undertake basic HVAC calculations with supervision to ensure HVAC design calculations complies with relevant flag/class codes and Austal standard (Weight estimate, Duct Sizing, Louvre Sizing, Grille Sizing, Damper sizing).
• Undertake 2D & 3D HVAC drawings in Autocad.
• Prepare requisitions and provide technical support to the HVAC / Mechanical Design Team and production.
• Coordinate with design team, Production, project and Supply chain management

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
• Has 2+ years relevant work experience preferably in Aluminium/Steel ship newbuild projects
• Strong HVAC design skills to meet vessel specification & rules requirements.
• Good knowledge of classification society/flag rule requirement.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with design, production and project teams in written and spoken English.
• Good competence with 2D & 3D (Autocad), Navisworks
• Familiar with industry wide software such as 3D CAD software, AutoCAD MEP
• Competent with MS Office, Word & Excel.

Desirable:

• Aluminium shipbuilding experience
• Familiar with HAP – E20 or any heatload calculation program.
