The Legal Officer for BPI Wealth Management is primarily responsible for handling the legal, tax and regulatory aspects of the different licenses, activities, and business.
Responsibilities:
Renders legal advice and opinion to BPI Wealth personnel to ensure that the business operates within the legal and regulatory requirements
Provides guidance on tax matters of BPI Wealth and its fiduciary accounts, including handling of inquiries and assessments issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
Prepares replies and addresses issues raised by the regulatory authorities and government agencies, such as but not limited to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), etc.
Crafts, reviews, prepares and revises contracts, agreements, and other forms and documents
Negotiates contracts and agreement with counterparties
Sets meetings with clients and counterparties to clarify and explain legal and regulatory aspects of the deals
Coordinates and liaises, and represents the business to, regulatory authorities and government agencies
Assists in the handling of client complaints, and refers the same to litigation lawyers, as and when necessary
Assists the business and the litigation lawyers (internal [BPI Legal Litigation] or external) in handling administrative and judicial cases
Represents the business in organizations and associations
Prepares, formulates, reviews and/or revises policies, guidelines, and procedures for BPI Wealth that will promote legal and regulatory awareness and compliance
Performs and/or assists in corporate secretary duties and responsibilities
Reviews the pertinent product terms, sheets, and other documents prior to offering these products and services to the clients, as well as communications to clients that contain legal and regulatory aspects
Creates materials and organizing training events for our internal clients
Qualifications:
Must be a lawyer
With at least 4-5 years of work experience in corporate law practice
Experience in the following areas would be an advantage: law firm (at least medium sized), tax law and audit practice, banking and/or trust industry
