Description

  • As a Domestic Business Development Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee the efficient and effective transportation of goods within a specific geographic region or country. You will be responsible for managing a team of professionals, coordinating logistics operations, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments to customers. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to optimize operational performance, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive business growth. 
  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team of freight forwarding professionals, including operations staff, customer service representatives, and administrative personnel. Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members to foster a high-performance culture and achieve departmental goals.
  • Operational Planning and Execution: Develop and implement operational plans and strategies to ensure the efficient handling and transportation of domestic shipments. Coordinate logistics operations, including freight consolidation, routing, scheduling, and tracking, to meet customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs, preferences, and expectations. Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Carrier and Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard carriers and vendors for domestic transportation services, negotiating contracts and rates as needed. Monitor and assess carrier performance, addressing any service issues or deviations from agreed-upon standards.
  • Cost Management and Budgeting: Manage departmental budgets and expenses, optimizing cost-effectiveness and profitability while maintaining service quality. Analyze freight costs, pricing structures, and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to domestic freight forwarding operations. Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards affecting domestic transportation and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure operational performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Monitor and analyze performance data, preparing regular reports and updates for management and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and service enhancements within the domestic freight forwarding operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, technologies, and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation management, with a focus on domestic operations.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of domestic transportation regulations, routing, and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CLTD, CSCP) is a plus.
