Description

As the Head Barista at Anthony’s Café, you will be the expert and leader in our coffee operations. You will oversee the daily operations of our coffee bar, ensuring that our team is well-trained, our drinks are consistently perfect, and our customers’ experience is always exceptional. You’ll bring creativity and innovation to our coffee offerings, helping us stay ahead of trends while maintaining the classic favorites our customers love.


  • Coffee Program Leadership: Lead the café’s coffee program, ensuring high standards for all drinks, from espresso-based beverages to brewed coffee.
  • Team Supervision: Manage, train, and mentor a team of baristas, ensuring they maintain excellent coffee-making skills and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Quality Control: Ensure every cup of coffee is brewed to perfection, paying close attention to consistency, flavor profiles, and presentation.
  • Customer Experience: Greet and interact with customers, recommend drinks, and ensure that guests are satisfied with their coffee and overall experience.
  • Product Development: Innovate new drink recipes, seasonal specials, and signature beverages to keep our menu exciting and aligned with current coffee trends.
  • Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other barista supplies, ensuring timely ordering and proper storage.
  • Health & Safety Standards: Enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Training & Development: Regularly train new and existing staff on coffee preparation techniques, equipment use, customer service, and café protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (kitchen, management) to ensure smooth operations, especially during peak hours.
  • Customer Feedback: Handle customer complaints or issues professionally and promptly, ensuring satisfaction is always prioritized.
  • Financial Management: Assist in tracking and controlling beverage costs while maintaining profitability.
  • Events & Promotions: Collaborate on promoting special events, new drink launches, or coffee-related activities to increase customer engagement and café visibility.


Requirements

  • Educational Background:
  • College graduate or equivalent; formal barista training is a plus
  • Any additional training in coffee brewing, latte art, or specialty coffee is highly preferred
  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a barista with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong background in espresso preparation, brewing techniques, and beverage presentation
  • Experience working in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Expertise in preparing espresso-based drinks (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, etc.) and a strong understanding of coffee bean origins, blends, and roasting techniques
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of inventory management and ordering systems
  • Creativity to develop new drinks and adapt to seasonal trends
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Physical & Work Conditions:
  • Ability to work long shifts on your feet
  • Ability to lift coffee bags and other supplies when needed
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
