Looking for Malaysian (English & Chinese language) REMOTE WORKING

An early-stage fintech initiative is building a next-generation Money Account System designed for businesses (merchants, payment service companies) to open and manage virtual accounts for remittances and foreign exchange. The system integrates directly with multiple banks via API and H2H connections, offering inbound/outbound payment handling, centralized ledger management, FX services, and compliance monitoring.

The project is under active development and entering the licensing application phase in Hong Kong. We are looking for a Full Stack Developer (Backend Focused) to join as a core team member to build out critical backend components, finalize portal functionalities, and integrate financial infrastructure APIs.

Responsibilities:

• Backend Development
• Build Node.js + Express backend services for API middleware, transaction routing, and ledger operations.
• Develop and maintain centralized ledger tracking master and client balances across multiple currencies.
• Implement scheduled tasks for transaction monitoring, reconciliation, and compliance operations.
• Frontend Development (Lightweight)
• Integrate and enhance an existing client and admin portal built on Next.js + TailwindCSS.
• API & Bank Integration
• Work with external banking APIs for account creation, fund movements (SWIFT, FPS), balance inquiries, and FX execution.
• Implement real-time FX rate fetching and transaction processing.
• Compliance & Risk Controls
• Integrate sanctions screening, STP (Straight-Through Processing) engines, and transaction monitoring rule systems.
• Security & Audit
• Ensure encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging, and data protection practices to support future compliance certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• (Optional / Good to Have)
• Knowledge of Solidity for potential future expansion into smart contract modules.

What You’ll Work On

• Building and refining critical systems for digital remittance and business banking services.
• Driving architecture and technical decisions for a scalable, secure financial system.
• Collaborating with product leads and external partners to finalize integrations and deliver operational readiness for a regulated environment.
• Strong hands-on experience in Node.js + Express development.
• Familiarity with API design, banking API integration, and payment processing systems.
• Experience implementing cron jobs and backend event schedulers.
• Basic proficiency in Next.js and TailwindCSS for frontend integration tasks.
• Deep understanding of ledger systems, multi-currency balance management, and financial reconciliation.
• Strong grasp of data security best practices and audit trail mechanisms.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to build and ship in a dynamic, high-ownership environment.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience working in fintech (e-wallet, payment gateway, digital banking, remittance).
• Exposure to compliance systems such as AML screening, transaction monitoring.
• Familiarity with Solidity or blockchain smart contracts.
