Your role in our team
Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Building Services team leadership in the Group, the job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop a team that effectively wins and undertakes projects across the Buildings market
- Develop and maintain good relationships with industry networks, clients, government agencies, sub- consultants and construction contractors relevant to the MEP team’s activities.
- Assist section leader on Business Development
- Supervise/prepare proposals/submissions and negotiate contracts within the MEP team’s framework for such activity. Authors proposal on small to medium range projects
- Develop and administer project monitoring and control mechanisms within the group. Prepares Project Plan, PFF, project programme, resources, scope, project output, deliverables and documentations.
- Represents ARUP professionally in pre-bid meetings, coordination meetings and client meetings.
- Reviews contract upon the Section Leader’s direction.
- Acts as a Project Leader on assigned projects
- Supervises group of Engineers in the accomplishments of their respective tasks.
- Monitor and managed staff/resources, projects and budgets (cost, time charging, etc.)
- Monitors performance and development of others by providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback.
- Develops and reviews schedule of activities for assigned projects
- Monitors progress and development of skills of team members.
- Complies with the Quality Management System of Arup.
- Authors and reviews assigned project reports.
- Undertake multiple design discipline (Mechanical/Electrical/Sanitary/Fire Protection select at least two as applicable) design for complex and major projects in a design engineer role
- Manage time effectively, delegating whenever possible
- Conducts development plan reviews.
- Support and actively implement the Arup vision and strategy statement, as measured through the key areas identified in the Group Management Plan
- Facilitate and co-ordinate design activities, processes and other technical standards within the MEPF team (including the review and monitoring of technical standards in the Team to ensure that design techniques, design review and check, reference material and software tools are up-to-date and are correctly applied). Checks and validates work of other Engineers. Provides and reviews (Mechanical/Electrical/Sanitary/Fire Protection select one as applicable) design calculations and drawings.
- Delivers quality projects as scheduled.
- Provides innovative solutions to complex problem.
- Predicts and plans future resources (e.g. setting up new projects which have major impact on the business)
- Participate in broader Office, Group, Division and/or Global activities as assigned or appropriate .
- Coordinates with Project Design Team and Clients.
- Author’s official documents such as letters, minutes of the meeting and design reports.
- Develops, organizes events and activities, processes of some complex projects.
- Timely submission and accuracy of output based on required standards.
- Fulfils other responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Is this role right for you?
- Registered Engineer in (Mechanical/Electrical/Sanitary/Fire Protection select one as applicable)
- 8 - 10 years of technical design, project management and business development experience.
- Has achieved a professional qualification i.e. CIBSE, ASHRAE, PME,PEE , PE, etc.) with recognised professional institutions i.e. PSME, IIEE, PSSE, NFPA, etc.) or can demonstrate the equivalent level of professional level of professional knowledge experience and skill.
- Knowledge of consulting experience and successful project management experience in the Building Services /MEPF sector. Highly experience in multiple building design related system (Mechanical, Electrical, Sanitary, Fire , Structural, & Architectural)
- Be able to demonstrate strong design ability and engineering solutions on major and/or complex projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels, both internally and externally to Arup, including
- an ability to represent the organization at high levels within the industry
- an ability to relate and work well with people at all levels within the team and within Arup
- an ability to maintain motivation and manage the performance team members, including the ability to be proactive, but tactful, in ensuring others within the team meet deadlines and other expectations
- Demonstrate good all-round hands-on design/supervisory experience.
- Well-developed ability to think strategically and formulate innovative plans and solutions (both for clients, and in relation to broader business planning). Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
- Keen understanding of “customer” needs (both internal and external), and a strong ability to effectively manage the issues which may impact on maintaining effectiveness within a commercial environment. Well-developed commercial acumen.
- Ability to maintain personal effectiveness, workload issues, and team and client relationships, both under normal circumstances, and at times of significant pressure.
- Must be able to maintain and develop successful client relationships and must be a team player.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines – and related procedures, including Environmental Health & Safety.
- Familiar with international and local design standards and codes such as: (i.e. Philippine Codes, US standards, BS, JIS, etc.)
- Excellent communications skills (both written and oral) essential for team-based working and must be able to prepare project correspondences and reports.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Excellent skills with Microsoft applications (word, excel, PowerPoint)
- Extensive knowledge of different soft-wares both technical and project management skills is essentials. Highly knowledgeable in of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM and MS Project.
- Keen sense of maintaining high standards , and a strong desire to motivate the same in others
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision and should be a team player and open to co-ordinating with engineers of other trades / inter-disciplinary coordination.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essential
- Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing or multiple projects.
- Developing skills in management and/or a design/technical/professional specialism
