Description

The Mechanical Engineer QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that mechanical works (such as piping, HVAC, welding, rotating/static equipment installations, etc.) meet project specifications, applicable codes/standards, and client requirements. The role involves inspection, documentation, coordination with engineering and site teams, and participation in quality-related processes from procurement to commissioning.


  • Inspect mechanical works during construction and installation phases.
  • Review and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs), calibration certificates, and QA/QC documents.
  • Conduct inspections for piping fabrication, welding, pressure testing, HVAC systems, rotating/static equipment installations, etc.
  • Verify that all work complies with project specifications, codes (ASME, API, ISO), and QMS standards.
  • Witness and document testing activities (e.g., hydrotest, pneumatic test, NDT, alignment checks).
  • Prepare inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality checklists, and method statements.
  • Ensure traceability of materials, weld maps, and documentation for QA records.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors for joint inspections.
  • Issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) and track corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed QA/QC records, daily reports, and inspection logs.
  • Participate in internal audits and assist in external audits and vendor assessments.
  • Monitor the implementation of site quality plans and suggest improvements.
  • Support commissioning activities and final documentation handover (as-built drawings, QA dossiers, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum [3–7] years of relevant QA/QC experience in mechanical engineering projects.
  • Certification in quality inspection (e.g., CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, API, ASNT Level II in RT/UT/MT/PT).
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards (ASME, ASTM, ISO, API, etc.).
  • Familiar with QA/QC procedures in EPC, construction, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, isometrics, P&IDs.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS implementation is a plus.
