Job Description

We are currently hiring Conventional and Non-QM Underwriters, as well as Jr. Underwriters. Candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in conventional and non-QM underwriting, or relevant experience as a loan processor. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of loans qualified based on FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and using bank statements and/or underwriting business purpose loans such as DSCR transactions. Experience in the wholesale or non-delegated correspondent lending channels is preferred.


Responsible for reviewing each mortgage file for an applicant’s work history, credit history, and all liabilities and assets contained on a mortgage loan application, along with any other information required for loan decision up to closing of the loan.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Complete thorough AUS or manual analysis of mortgage loan files to determine compliance with company and investor guidelines and matrices to ensure salability of closed loans.

2. Analyzing loan risk and requesting additional documentation as necessary.

3. Reviewing loan conditions.

4. Making loan eligibility decisions by approving or rejecting loans, documenting the loan file appropriately and communicating the decisions effectively to all necessary parties.

5. Calculate the borrower’s income and analyze their ability to repay the mortgage obligation.

6. Ensure one all information is gathered that it is accurate, compliance standards are met, and the decision is in line with company policies and guidelines.

7. Maintain company service level and turn-time standards.

8. Respond to audits and post-closing issues in a timely manner.

9. Maintain working knowledge of Conventional, Non-QM, TPO and/or NDC guidelines and policies.

10. Request exceptions and scenarios as needed.

11. Submit initial file and conditions to investor when necessary. Regularly check status of files with investor for completion of exceptions, initial review, and conditions cleared.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

13. Knowledgeable in running DU or LPA.

· Ability to adapt to technology

· Working knowledge of Microsoft office


Education/Experience:

· 2+ years prior underwriting experience or being a US loan processor

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
