Role Outline:


As a Paralegal, you'll be a key part of our legal team, providing essential support to senior paralegals and lawyers. Your work will involve assisting with various legal tasks, including conducting legal research, drafting and proofreading documents, and managing case files.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced legal environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring legal professional to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the success of a dynamic legal department.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Case and Project Management: Assist in managing and tracking the progress of legal cases and projects. This includes coordinating schedules, organizing case files (both physical and electronic), and helping to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research using databases like LexisNexis or Westlaw UK, and help prepare summaries and reports for lawyers.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and format various legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and agreements, ensuring they comply with legal standards.
  • Financial Lending Compliance: Support compliance with UK financial regulations. This includes:
  • Know Your Customer (KYC): Assisting with the verification of customer identities and the collection of required documentation (e.g., proof of identity and address) to prevent fraud and financial crime.
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML): Conducting checks to ensure all financial transactions and lending activities comply with UK Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Assisting in the ongoing monitoring of financial transactions to identify and report any suspicious activity in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support, including handling client correspondence, preparing for meetings and court hearings, and assisting with billing processes.
  • Compliance and Filings: Help prepare regulatory filings and reports, ensuring that legal activities adhere to relevant UK laws and regulations.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Must have completed or be currently enrolled in a Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program.
  • Completion of a paralegal training program is required. Additional certificates in legal research, data protection or writing are a plus.
  • 2-3 years previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within a corporate or in-house legal department, with a focus on the real estate industry.
  • Strong understanding of the UK legal system is an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be resourceful and client-facing, with a proven ability to investigate and gather information to find out more about a client's background.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Keen interest in working in an AI and technology landscape and using these resources in field of legal and compliance
  • Experience in lending and offshore structures, exposure in the international financial world
