- Sourcing and purchasing: Identify needs, research and evaluate potential suppliers, and develop purchasing plans for equipment, services, and supplies.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers to get the best possible deals.
- Supplier management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, and manage supplier performance.
- Cost and budget management: Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for purchases.

- Record keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Strategic planning: Engage in strategic sourcing and procurement planning to identify cost-reduction opportunities and manage supply chain risks.
