Job Description

Primary Function: To lead and conduct detailed inspections and assessments to ensure vessels and marine structures comply with safety and regulatory standards. The role involves overseeing inspection activities, coordinating survey tasks, providing expert guidance on compliance and certification matters, evaluating damage, recommending repairs, and ensuring continuous adherence to high safety and quality benchmarks.

Scope of Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive surveys of a vessel’s hull, machinery, and safety equipment to assess structural integrity and operational efficiency. Oversee and guide junior surveyors to ensure thorough examination of all components.
  • Evaluate damage or wear and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance to restore vessel integrity and performance.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, surveys, and certifications to ensure legal compliance and facilitate future reference.
  • Provide technical advice to shipowners, operators, and shipyards on regulatory compliance and safety improvements.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of updates in maritime laws and standards, assisting them in adapting to new requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior surveyors, sharing expertise and best practices to strengthen team capability.
  • Promote the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance survey accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Principal Surveyor during periods of absence or incapacity.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Surveyor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in the practice of Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or as a Management-Level Marine Engineer
  • Must hold a valid professional license in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
